Original content for UK businesses · Clear scope · Digital delivery

WordHarbour Studio began with a modest idea: that UK businesses deserve writing which is genuinely useful, honestly researched and clearly scoped from the very first email. I built the practice around that belief and I have kept it deliberately small so I can hold that standard on every project.

About WordHarbour Studio

WordHarbour Studio is my independent writing practice. I personally review each enquiry, agree the scope and prepare the content delivered to the client. There is no team behind me, no account managers and no outsourced ghost-writing chain — every piece I ship carries my direct attention from the first sentence to the last.

Why clear writing matters

Business writing earns its place when the reader finishes it feeling more informed than before. That sounds simple, but it takes time — the time to understand who the reader is, what they already know and what the writing is honestly trying to achieve. Clear writing is not a stylistic flourish; it is a courtesy to the person on the other end of the page.

My approach to client briefs

Every engagement begins with a written brief. It sets out the topic, the audience, the tone, the word count, the deliverables, the revision allowance and the delivery schedule. I would rather spend an extra half hour agreeing what a project involves than start writing in the wrong direction. The brief is not paperwork — it is the shared reference point that keeps the work honest for both of us.

Originality and research

Every deliverable is prepared from scratch. I do not repurpose old drafts, spin existing articles or lift structure from elsewhere. Research is done thoughtfully and, where relevant, sources are noted so you can verify anything I have relied upon. I will always tell you when a topic sits outside my confident knowledge so you can decide whether to proceed.

Tone and audience

Tone is a technical choice, not a mood. Before I write, I want to know who is reading, in what context, and what they should feel when they finish. Whether the tone required is warm and conversational, calmly professional or precise and technical, it is defined in the brief and applied consistently across the deliverables.

Working with UK businesses

I write primarily for UK sole traders, startups, small businesses and independent consultants. That focus shapes small but meaningful things — spelling, currency, cultural references, the assumptions behind a phrase like 'high street'. It also means I understand the reality of running a smaller business, where content is one of several priorities competing for time.

Communication and accountability

You will only ever hear from me. Emails are typically answered within one business day. Drafts, revisions and delivery notes come through a single, tidy trail. If a deadline is under pressure or a scope needs to shift, I will tell you early rather than late. That accountability is the whole point of working with an independent writer.

Quality-control process

Every draft is checked for structure, factual consistency, tone alignment, grammar, readability and formatting before it reaches you. Longer pieces are set aside for a second reading before delivery. I would rather deliver a day later than deliver something I have not fully reviewed.

What clients can expect

A calm, structured process. A clearly written scope. A schedule that is realistic rather than optimistic. Drafts that arrive when they are promised. Revisions applied without fuss within the agreed allowance. And a final document that reads like it was written for you, because it was.
